Nominations we need nominations for a Federation Vice President and a new Handcraft and Home skills Convenor who will take position in November. Please send any nominations to Federation Secretary by the end of September.

 

National Committees Are you interested in having your say at HQ. We are now taking applications to form the ‘New look’ committees. Board meetings happen 4 times a year and Committee meetings 2 times. Please get in touch for more info, or if you know someone who would be wonderful in these roles encourage them to come forward.

 

**New Opening** The HUB (59 King Street, Perth) is now only open 1st and 3rd Thursdays of a month 1 – 3pm. Bookings should be emailed to pandkbooking@outlook.com. Hire cost is £3 per Hour.

Perth and Kinross SWI have been featured by The SWI on their social media platform in February. A number of our institute meetings have been advertised. We really hope that this increases our profile and brings along some new members!

 

AGMs a few things to note 

 

Levies the National Levy will be increasing by £1 in 2019/20 which will bring the total levy payable by each member in 2019/20 to £28 (£23 National and £5 Federation)

Magazine Subscriptions run from June to July. If your institute pays for these please ensure members have paid or intend to pay for these as subscriptions cannot be cancelled.

SWI Membership Cards have arrived with us. Collection of these will be via the Group Chairmen. Please return any unissued cards to the Federation Secretary.

Smalls for all charity – Smalls for All® is a Scottish Charity which collects and distributes underwear to help women and children in Africa. All you have to do is buy a packet of ladies’ or children’s pants. They must be new and while we collect all sizes, those we need the most are for children aged 3-15 or ladies’ size 8-14. And while we collect all colours, the ladies’ pants in greatest demand are black – in full brief, midi, mini or high leg (in the smaller sizes). We also accept new or ‘gently worn’ bras which can be any size, including sports and nursing bras, but not teen, cropped-top style or bikini tops. (By ‘gently worn’ we mean bras that are in good condition and still have good wear left in them) Collect in The HUB Perth

Abbotsford House, Melrose – lunch is available for people, who would pay separately.

High Tea will be at Peebles.

Bus leaves Broxden 8.30am and Kinross 9.00am. Anyone wishing to board at Glenfarg – 8.00am.

The cost will be £38 including High Tea and this will be part-subsidised so the ticket price will be £35.00.  This will include entry to the House and Gardens.

Tickets will be £4 to be sold in advance. Performing teams will have free entry. Each group is asked to provide a raffle prize.

Honorariums the new appointed treasurer will receive £200 per annum and her expenses. The Secretary will receive £2000 per annum and her expenses.

 

Levies the National Levy will be increasing by £1 in 2019/20 which will bring the total levy payable by each member in that year to £28 (£23 National and £5 Federation)

 

Revised Constitution The FAQ, which were circulated in November, were discussed and voted upon at the EGM on Friday 23rd November. The finalised Constitution has now been circulated to Institutes and will be voted upon on 23rd April at an EGM. To allow our Central Councillors to vote appropriately we are holding a meeting on 2nd February at 1030pm to discuss the revised constitution. Open to All

 

SWI Membership Cards will be released early this year. The membership lists which have been circulated to institute have the details of all those who are members. As long as you have paid your levy and filled in a membership form these will be issued to you. Any New members who join will receive a card with their new members pack. More information to follow

Syllabus Competition- There were judged by Margaret Whiteford from Fife federation. These are available to view in the HUB noticeboard

1st– Carnbo SWI- beautifully presented, very clear and a lot of thought gone into the introduction of the speaker.

2nd – Forteviot SWI – An excellent introduction into the SWI going beyond the monthly meetings information.

3rd– Glenfarg SWI – An excellent example of a syllabus past and present.

4th – Blackford SWI- A comprehensive booklet through the year highlighting encouragement to participate in the extra diary dates

5th Madderty SWI– A very attractive syllabus which is easily read

6th Meigle SWI- a very attractive syllabus which perhaps is ahead of its time, nether less covers all points

Leith Hall, Huntly – Saturday the 12th May. Cost £35 inclusive of admission, coach fare and High tea at Red House Coupar angus. Bus will leave Kinross p and Ride at 830 am and Broxden at 9 am. Still some seats available. Contact Margaret Arbuckle (01577 840 311).

Happy New Year from all of P&K SWI

The HUB

The HUB will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays 10-12am and is located at 59 King Street, Perth. Please pop in if you are in town and enjoy a cuppa. The free Perth City WIFI can be accessed from here too if you need to catch up on anything.

If you have a committee or group its an ideal meeting space  Hire Charges are £3 per Hour

Junior Dippers- The new Pilot met for the first time on Saturday the 27th of January. It has been so popular that we now have a waiting list.  There is a one off joining fee of £10 for the year and a small charge for any materials needed at each class (approximately £2).

Season’s Greetings

Thank you all for your continued support throughout 2017. It has been a momentous year with several events to mark 100 years of the SWI. Tea in the Park was a huge event with 540 ladies attending.

The HUB

Our new premises located at 59 King Street, Perth will provide a wonderful meeting space not only for our committees but for our members. In 2017 we hope to start groups which will address the needs of our members. Please put any suggestions forward…

Junior Dippers

The new Pilot group which was launched at the Federation meeting is for girls in Primary 4-7 and Secondary 1-3.  There is a one off joining fee of £10 for the year and a small charge for any materials needed at each class (approximately £2). First meeting is Saturday 27th January 10 am – 3pm at The HUB and will cover Wet Felting. Registration Forms are available from the Federation Secretary. Spaces filling fast
